WebRemoveBG is designed to be private by default: your photos are processed on your device and never uploaded to us. This page explains exactly what data is (and isn't) collected when you use the site.
Your photos never leave your device
WebRemoveBG runs its AI background-removal models locally in your browser using WebAssembly and WebGPU. When you drop, paste, or select an image, it is decoded and processed entirely on your own device. We do not upload, transmit, view, or store the photos you edit, and we have no server-side copy of them to access, share, or lose.
Local storage on your device
To let you resume a session (for example, after reloading the tab), WebRemoveBG keeps recent images in your browser's own local storage (IndexedDB), and a service worker may cache the downloaded AI model files for faster reuse. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time from the app's "Clear all" control or your browser's site-data settings.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymized usage of the site (such as which pages are visited) and Google AdSense to show advertising that helps keep WebRemoveBG free. Both services may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser. These cookies are unrelated to the photos you process and cannot access them.
Third-party advertising and Google AdSense
WebRemoveBG is a Google AdSense publisher. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. You can also disable cookies entirely in your browser's privacy settings.
Analytics
Google Analytics collects standard, aggregated technical information such as approximate location (country/city level), device and browser type, and pages visited, to help us understand how the site is used. This data is not linked to the images you process and is not used to identify you personally.
Children's privacy
WebRemoveBG is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The "Last updated" date below reflects the most recent revision.
