FAQ
Switching from Remove.bg
Is Remove.bg shutting down?
Remove.bg is moving its background removal into Canva, and its standalone website closes on December 1, 2026. WebRemoveBG is a free alternative that keeps working in your browser, with no account or credits needed.
Why is WebRemoveBG free while Remove.bg charges?
Remove.bg processes images on cloud servers and charges credits to cover that cost. WebRemoveBG runs optimized open-source AI models on your own device, so there is no server bill to pass on to you.
Does WebRemoveBG upload my photos like Remove.bg does?
No. Remove.bg uploads images to its servers for processing. WebRemoveBG runs the AI inside your browser, so your photos never leave your computer or phone.
Is the cutout quality as good as Remove.bg?
For most portraits, products and pets, yes. WebRemoveBG offers several open-source models tuned for hair, fur and fine edges, with smooth 8-bit transparency. For tricky photos you can switch models and compare.
Is there a limit on how many images I can process?
No. Process single photos or drop dozens at once and download them all as a ZIP file, without paying anything.
Do I need an account or a credit card?
No. There is no sign-up and no payment. Open the page and start removing backgrounds.
Can I use the cutouts commercially?
Yes. The images you export are yours to use in online stores, client projects, advertising and marketing.
Do I need to install any software or extensions?
No. WebRemoveBG runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop, laptop or mobile, with nothing to install.
